The Woodcutter Story

Original language: Finnish

Metsurin Tarina

Pepe is a kind woodcutter from an idyllic small town in the north of Finland. Surrounded by friends and family who gather around the table for dinner and card games in the evenings, Pepe is content with his simple life. Over the course of a couple of days, a series of extremely strange events slowly destroys this idyll. However, even in the midst of chaos, Pepe still remains an optimist, as if he knows a secret that no one else knows. A quirky and eccentric black comedy straight out of Critics' Week at the Cannes Film Festival, The Woodcutter's Story is a surreal and unforgettable commentary on the absurdity of life's meaning.
